ערה חלק מן הכתובות במדריך מודגשים על מנת שלא יצנזרו

בישראל אין כיום חוק המוקדש באופן יעודי רק לסוגיית הפישינג. אולם פעילות עבריינית שכזו נכנסת למסגרת מספר חוקים. לדוגמה, סעיף 3 לחוק המחשבים יכול להתאים לתופעת הפישינג, על כל עוד הפרשנות של הסעיף לעניין התוצאה המתקבלת מהטעיית בעל המידע תענה על הגדרת "מידע כוזב" או "פלט כוזב".

קודם כל מזה פישניג?
אתר פישינג (כותבים "Phishing" - שיבוש של המלה "Fishing" בעברית "דיג") הוא אתר שמתחזה לאתר של בנק או ספקית דואר אלקטרוני ומטרתו לגרום לכם להקליד את שם המשתמש והסיסמא שלכם אליו.
התרמית מתנהלת כך" לאחר שהקלדתם את שם המשתמש וסיסמת הכניסה שלכם, לא תצליחו להיכנס לשירות או לחשבון הבנק ותמשיכו הלאה, בתחושה שיש בעיה ו"נחזור אחר-כך". למעשה שמר האתר את פרטיכם והוא מתכוון לנצל את הפירצה שהרויח כדי לחדור לחשבון הדואר שלכם, לעשות פעולות בחשבון הבנק שלכם (כולל העברה של כספים לחשבונות זרים) וכדומה. קודם כל מגיע לכם אימיל כזה
שלום בנק הפועלים נפרץ ע"י שלושה האקרים מוסלמים
הינך חייב לכתוב סיסמא חדשה לחץ כאן
אימיל זה חשוד למה?
באימיל לא כתוב את שמכם הפרטי ואין שום פרט מזה
עדיף להתקש למקוד הבנק ולשאול
